Presentation: Trip to the 20th World Orchid Congress
The Orchid Society Meeting’s program on February 21st will be a presentation about the 20th World Orchid Congress that recently occurred in Singapore. There will be a power point presentation by Rickey Schneider that will show wonderful pictures of orchids from the show and also the tour of Malaysia.
This congress was recently an article topic in the Smithsonian Magazine. Come escape and see the many wonders of the orchid species and see a few of the flowers from over 25,000 species. You can almost smell the wonderful fragrance when you shut your eyes and imagine being surrounded by more than 50,000 flowers that were at the show. There will be a social time at 6:30, with the meeting starting at 7:00 pm at the Botanical Hall at Cheekwood. Just tell them at the gate you are there to see the World Orchid Congress.
There will be a door price, an American Orchid Society Calendar. Members may bring plants and remember the annual dues of $25 are due. We welcome anyone interested to visit our meetings. Thank you for supporting OSMT.
